After 30 years, I
was just alerted to the website by my circle of high school friends whom
I stay in close touch with. They include Kim Ourant Halsey. Please
insert the my bio as follows. I also have a photo to add to the Then
& Now section.
After going on to OSU, I taught in China for a year in 1980. I moved back to take up
a Masters in Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
I married an OSU classmate from our old nemesis Massillon and we
moved to the Silicon Valley and later to Chicago. I started my
career in banking there while obtaining an MBA at the University of
Chicago. During the 1990s I split with my first husband and moved
to Hong Kong, where I lived and worked for 11 years. I specialize
in investing equity in privatized infrastructure – power plants,
roads, airports etc. I have been a Director for $1 billion
investment funds and a senior executive for a British firm, investing in
China, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Along the way I got very
fluent in Chinese and married a musician and composer from Shanghai.
Right around 9/11, I moved to London to become Chief Financial Officer
of an international airports company. I am now working in
international infrastructure investment again, with a leading European
bank. My work and my hobby both involve travel. We enjoy going off
to countries we haven’t been to before, and getting in some history,
art, good food & wine, and the odd bit of skiing. Didn’t
know about the reunion in time to make plans to come to it – I guess
the 30th anniversary has crept on on me – and I am
traveling on holiday in Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa at that
time. But it was great to see what our classmates have been up to,
and how we’ve all changed – matured, to put it nicely – since
1975. Love the T-shirt. Hope you all have a good time at the
reunion.
