CHOPE Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann
Chope, age 49, a lifelong resident of Upper Arlington, passed
away unexpectedly Monday, May 29, 2006 at her residence. She was
born February 12, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Roy
and Lois (Sherman) Chope. She graduated from Upper Arlington
High School, Class of 1975, and from The Ohio State University
with her degree in education. She also did graduate work at OSU
in education and psychology. Most recently, she taught English
as a second language at both Jones Middle School and Tremont
Elementary School. She was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran
Church, Sawmill Athletic Club, and a former member of Columbus
Ski Club. Betsy was also a dedicated runner, having completed
several marathon races. Above all else, she was a loving
daughter and sister and enjoyed spending time with her special
nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her brother David Chope, in 1977. Betsy is survived
by her sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Nick Whalen of Upper
Arlington; brother, Charles Chope of Columbus; nieces and
nephews, Jennifer, David, Amanda, and Daniel Whalen; aunt,
Joanne Chope (Joseph) Corsiglia of Cape Cod, MA; and cousins,
Douglas Chope and Katherine Chope-Garcia. The family will
receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST
CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington. The funeral
service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2006 at Upper
Arlington Lutheran Church, 2300 Lytham Road, Upper Arlington,
where the family will also receive friends one hour prior to the
service from 10-11 a.m. Pastor Lee Simcox will officiate.
Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. If desired,
contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society,
3015 Scioto Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, OH 43026 in her
