KOTTMAN Janet Kay Kottman was
born March 6, 1957 in Ames, Iowa to Roy M. Kottman and Wanda L. Kottman,
both deceased. She passed away on December 28, 2016 in Naples, Florida.
Janet is survived by her brothers, Robert, Wayne and Gray Kottman; and her
two sons, Daniel and David Gregory. Janet had the uncanny ability to bring
a bright light to every life she touched. Janet graduated valedictorian
from Upper Arlington High School, with honors from Miami (Ohio) University
and The Ohio State University College of Law. Janet did not use her higher
education for monetary compensation, but to champion the downtrodden and
vulnerable. She practiced law for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation
and Corrections and the Ohio School Boards Association. In California, outside
Yosemite National Park, she served as a Mariposa Director of CASA
(California-appointed special advocates for foster children) where she
provided advocacy for abused and neglected children. Janet was also a real
estate agent specializing in the short-sale process to help individuals
losing their homes. The past year-and-a-half Janet has lived in Florida,
where she has continued to donate her time and love to anyone that needed
it. Janet relished time spent outdoors, especially all things water; an
excellent water fitness instructor, kayaker, and swimmer. Janet's impact
will ripple for many years to come. She will be greatly missed. Family
will receive friends on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at
